Credit where it is due. Controlled access means far less through-traffic than a resort campus garage, and materially less chance of a stranger’s door meeting your quarter panel. For day-to-day ownership it is one of the more sensible parking arrangements among Las Vegas high-rises, and residents are right to value it.

What it does not address is temperature. Concrete decks absorb heat through the afternoon and release it through the night, so the garage stays warm long after the outside air has cooled. Across July and August a vehicle parked there experiences sustained elevated temperature for the better part of every twenty-four hours — not a brief afternoon peak that passes.

That distinction matters more than the peak number does. Materials fail from cumulative exposure, not from a single hot afternoon. A battery held at 105°F for eighteen hours a day for sixty days has aged considerably more than the calendar suggests.

It is worth separating two things that often get conflated. What the I-15 Corridor Puts on Your Paint

What usually happens next inverts the logic entirely. The collector car takes the assigned space and a daily driver goes outside, which means the vehicle engineered for exposure and driven often enough to stay healthy gets the shelter, while the one that actually needs preservation gets a slightly cooler concrete deck and no other benefit at all.

Moving the dormant vehicle off-site resolves both halves in one decision. The daily drivers get the spaces they are suited to, and the car that needs conditions gets conditions.

There is a further wrinkle for households running a convertible or a targa. Soft-top materials and their mechanisms are among the most heat- and UV-sensitive components on any vehicle, and a folded top left compressed in a warm garage for six months takes a set at the fold lines. Storing a convertible top-up in conditioned air is standard practice for exactly this reason.

The Inversion Worth Avoiding
