The Signature Las Vegas Car Storage

Most Signature units are owned by people who are not in Las Vegas. That changes the vehicle problem entirely: the car is not parked between uses, it is parked between visits.

The Signature at MGM Grand is three non-gaming, non-smoking towers on the MGM Grand campus off Harmon Avenue, and a large share of its units belong to owners who visit for a few weeks a year rather than living there. If you keep a car in Las Vegas so that you are not renting one every trip, the honest description of that car is not ‘parked’ — it is stored, badly, for ten months a year. REVCity Auto Storage is at 7185 Bermuda Rd, Las Vegas NV 89119, about eleven minutes away. Call 725-272-1803.

Ten Months Parked, Two Months Driven

This is the pattern almost every absentee Signature owner falls into, and it is the worst possible duty cycle for a vehicle. The car does not get the benefit of regular use — charged battery, circulated fluids, cycled seals — and it does not get the benefit of proper storage either. It simply sits in an uncontrolled structure in the hottest city in the country and waits.

What Fails FirstTimescale UnattendedWhat You Notice on Arrival
BatteryWeeks in summer heatCar will not start; the trip begins with a call-out
Tyres30 days on soft compoundsVibration through the wheel that fades but does not go
FuelAbout three months untreatedRough running, then a fuel-system bill
InteriorOne summerCrazed dash crown, hardened seat bolsters
BrakesOne monsoon seasonSurface-rusted discs, and bonded pads if the handbrake was left on
The Arrival Problem Is the Whole Point

You have a week in Las Vegas. Spending the first afternoon of it on a dead battery and a tyre shop is the actual cost of leaving a car in a hotel garage between visits. The alternative is that the car is charged, correct pressure, fluids fresh, and waiting when you land.

Lead-acid self-discharge roughly doubles for every 15°F rise in ambient temperature, which is why a battery that would survive a Chicago winter dies in a Las Vegas August. Maintainer versus trickle charger.

Why the Building Garage Is Not the Answer

A Strip-campus garage is designed for turnover — guests arriving and leaving daily. It is not designed to hold one car still for ten months, and nothing about it protects a vehicle that is not moving.

It is not climate controlled
A parking structure is an open building. Ambient is ambient, and in July that means a car soaking at 115°F outside and 160–190°F inside the cabin.
It is shared with guests
Thousands of unfamiliar drivers, door edges and shopping trolleys, in a structure with no reserved-space enforcement worth relying on for a year.
Long-stay cars get moved
Every large garage reshuffles long-stay vehicles when it fills. Each move is a short cold start that adds moisture to the oil without ever removing it.
Nobody is maintaining it
No battery maintenance, no tyre unloading, no fluid checks. It is a parking space, honestly described.

If what you actually want is the concierge relationship — car collected from the building, returned when you land — that is set out on the resident page for car storage for The Signature at MGM Grand residents. This page is about the storage problem underneath it.

What Absentee Storage Should Actually Include

The test is simple: can you fly in, collect the car, and drive it without anything needing attention first? That requires five things, and a parking space provides none of them.

RequirementWhy It Matters for a Ten-Month Sit
Humidity held at 40–50 percentMojave air runs 10–15 percent; hide and any wood trim dry out and craze permanently
Temperature held at 50–70°FRemoves the daily cycle that fatigues adhesives, seals and trim
Battery on a maintainerThe difference between driving away and waiting for a call-out
Weight off the tyresA car on a four-post lift carries no sidewall load at all. Why flat spots form
Fuel treated before the sitUntreated E10 begins separating at around three months and Las Vegas heat accelerates it

Add concierge collection and the arrival problem disappears entirely — the car meets you rather than you fetching it. How that works.

The wider version of this pattern, for owners with a property here rather than a condo-hotel unit, is covered in second-home car storage and storage for frequent travellers.

If the Unit Is in a Rental Programme

A meaningful share of Signature units are placed into a rental programme when the owner is away, which introduces a question most owners have not thought through: your car is sitting in a garage attached to a building where your unit is being occupied by someone else. Access control on the vehicle becomes a separate problem from access control on the unit.

Storing off-site resolves it cleanly. The car is behind a gate at a facility with no public floor access, in a dedicated bay, and the only people who can release it are the people you have authorised. That is a materially different security posture from a shared campus garage, and it is usually the argument that decides it for owners who rent their unit out.

Worth Confirming With Your Insurer

A vehicle stored long-term rather than driven may sit differently under your policy, and the valuation basis matters more than most owners assume. The facility’s liability cover insures the building, not your car. What a standard policy actually does.

Preparing a Car You Will Not See for Months

The prep for an absentee owner is different from the prep for someone who will be back on Saturday, because nobody is going to notice a problem developing. Everything has to be right on the day you leave.

StepTimingWhy It Matters When Nobody Is Watching
Treat the fuel, then drive itBefore the final trip to usStabiliser only protects what it reaches; it has to circulate under load
Change the oil warmSame day, before drop-offCombustion acids sit against bearing surfaces for the whole gap otherwise
Set storage tyre pressures coldOn arrival, once cooledPressure set hot reads high and leaves the tyres soft for months
Leave it out of gear, handbrake offAt drop-off, chockedPads bond to discs over months; freeing them can mean new rotors
Photograph and record the odometerAt drop-offThe documentation an agreed-value insurer expects, and you are not here to supply it later

Then leave it alone. The instinct to have someone start it monthly is understandable and wrong: a short idle never reaches the temperature that drives condensation out of the crankcase, so every start adds water and unburned fuel and shuts down before removing either. The reasoning in full.

FAQ

Common Questions

Where can I store a car near The Signature at MGM Grand?

REVCity Auto Storage at 7185 Bermuda Rd is about eleven minutes from The Signature and seven minutes from Harry Reid International. Vehicles are held at 50–70°F and 40–50 percent humidity in a gated, monitored building with a BendPak four-post lift at every space. Call 725-272-1803.

I only visit a few weeks a year. Is storage worth it?

That is precisely the case it is built for. A car used two months and parked ten is on the worst possible duty cycle: no benefit from regular use, no protection from proper storage. The battery, tyres and fuel all degrade unattended, and you spend the first day of each trip dealing with it.

Can the car be waiting for me when I land?

Yes. Tell us your arrival and the vehicle is prepared and delivered rather than collected. For owners flying in for a short stay this is usually the deciding feature, because it removes the airport-to-storage-to-Strip detour entirely.

My unit is in the rental programme. Does that change anything?

It strengthens the case for storing off-site. Your car would otherwise sit in a campus garage attached to a building your unit is being occupied in, with access control on the vehicle separate from access control on the unit. A gated facility with no public floor access resolves that.

Do I have to be in Las Vegas to arrange storage?

No. Most absentee owners arrange it by phone and hand the car over on their last day in town, or we collect it from the building. Billing, access authorisation and delivery scheduling are all handled remotely, which is the point — the arrangement has to work while you are three time zones away.

What happens if something needs attention while I am away?

We call you. A vehicle in a monitored, climate-controlled bay rarely develops problems, but tyre pressures, fluid levels and battery state are visible to us in a way they are not in a parking deck. You hear about a soft tyre in week six rather than discovering it in month ten.

Is the MGM Grand campus garage good enough for a few months?

It is a parking structure, not storage. There is no climate control, no humidity control, no battery maintenance and no way to take load off the tyres, and long-stay vehicles get moved when the deck fills. For days it is fine. For months in Las Vegas heat it is not.
